Christina Maria Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980 in Staten Island, New York. She is a pop and R&B singer, as well as a songwriter. Aguilera signed with RCA Records and launched her debut album in 1999 when fellow pop stars Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson were also beginning their careers. Aguilera has earned five Grammy Awards and been nominated for sixteen total.
