Petey Pablo is a southern hip hop artist born Moses Barrett III in Greenville, North Carolina on July 22, 1973. Pablo signed with Jive Records and released his first album in 2001. He has since signed with Death Row Records in 2005. Rumors are circulating that an EP to be released by Death Row contain several lyrical attacks on Henry Brown, an east coast rapper. Petey Pablo has also made attacks on St. Louis rapper, Piff.
Petey’s first professional album, Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry, contained the hit single "Raise Up." The album achieved Gold status, peaking at #13 in the US. His second album was titled Still Writing In My Diary. The hit single from this album, "Freek-A-Leek," helped drive it to #4 on the US Charts, and to Gold status.
