Obie Trice III is a rapper from Detroit, Michigan who was born on November 14, 1977. Before signing with Shady Records in 2000, Obie Trice had several underground hits. Obie was a friend of Bizarre, a rapper in the group D12. Eminem signed Obie after meeting him in person, and has since given him a number of appearances in Eminem's videos. He is considered by many to be the protege of Eminiem.

Obie Trice has been criticized for "underperforming" on his solo albums. He has released two albums thus far: Cheers and Second Round's on Me. His third album is due out in 2007. Obie's debut album in 2003 did go platinum, and reached #4 on the US Billboard 200. His follow-up album 3 years reached #1 on the US Billboard 200.
